About Wroxall
Rob, Dan & Josh Evans
In 1968 Dan Evans, along with his father Cecil, travelled to Canada where there was much talk about the Simmental Breed which aroused their interest.
On returning to England they applied to the Ministry for the import of the Simmental breed. They decided, along with two other UK farmers, to go for stock directly from Switzerland and begin the lengthy process of choosing and obtaining the expensive breed. Due to the strict health regulations the Swiss Government imposed it was not until 1969 that they eventually took delivery of their new stock.
Dan Evans, along with his son Rob, are one of the leading Simmental breeders in the UK with extensive knowledge and experience from being one of the first importers of this highly regarded breed, renowned for it’s temperament, locomotion and growth rate.
Through importing and implanting various embryos from, what they consider to be, top cow families from around the globe the aim at Wroxall is to improve the genetic base of the cow herd. Currently they are specifically concentrating on the polled and homozygous polled gene to try and keep up with customer requirements.
